It's a beautiful day

Moar drawings finally. I've been so lazy lately (surprise, surprise) and haven't been doing much drawing lately other than for my Portraiture class. I'd been really caught up on reading the Harry Potter series, which I finished a little more than a week ago. I have to say, IT WAS AMAZING!! Haha. I didn't know what I was missing all those years I refused to read the books. I can definitely say that no other books have made me laugh and cry so much before. It depresses me that it all had to come to an end.

Unfortunately, I've been wasting quite a bit of time reading HP fanfiction in my spare time, which is pretty pointless to be honest. I hadn't been so into reading fanfiction since high school and I can see why I stopped reading it. So, I'm going to try to be more productive with my time.

Self-portrait in graphite (big chin ugh!)

I'm not too happy with this drawing. My professor didn't even critique it. He just skipped right over me onto the next student's ;_;

Hate this drawing. Charcoal on newsprint.

I'm actually pretty proud of this =] I love drawing in pencil so much more than charcoal. So much easier to control. My professor had to help with the hair and fix the nose though.

I like how this one came out as well. Graphite.

One of the best drawings I've done of my boyfriend.

I feel like her head is too small.

From today's class. Eyes look a bit weird and the overall proportions seem a bit off.

I ended up coloring this sketch with my promarkers. Not that happy with it, but it looks okay. I really effed up the girl's hair. Goes to show how much I still need to learn.

So here we are again

Moar drawingsss. Yay! Haven't been drawing enough these days, but at least I've been doing something. I just finished schedule 1e in Natural Way to Draw, so I'll be able to start the next section of the book tomorrow most likely. At this rate, it will take me much longer than a year to complete this book haha.

I haven't applied to Towson yet, or for financial aid, so I'm not sure what's going to to happen for next semester, since I missed the deadline. I guess I can still try to apply and see how it goes. I'm pretty proud of myself though because I had a driving lesson on Thursday morning and it went pretty well. I feel pretty confident that I'll get my license before the summer =]

Anyway here are the drawings:

These first 4 are from Portraiture

More drawings

I've been sick for the past week and a half so I have not been drawing as much as I should be. I had to missed my Portraiture class on Wednesday since I couldn't stop coughing =[ I just hope my professor won't be mad at me when I go to class next week. I have some more drawings from that class and also some homework I did. I'm still trying to work through "The Natural Way to Draw" (just finished schedule 1D!) slowly, but surely. The contour drawings are a pain in the neck; I can't seem to concentrate on drawing them for an hour. I did manage to do another exercise from "Keys to Drawing" which I shall post.

I got two new books in the mail the other day: "Perspective Made Easy" by Ernest R. Norling and "Complete Guide to Life Drawing" by Gottfried Bammes. I know I really should work through the stack of books I already have, but it's so hard to resist getting a new book.

Since no one really reads this blog, I'm not going to bother cropping/fixing up the photos of my drawings. I'm feeling very lazy at the moment. Sorry for the crappy quality.

I'm really hoping that I will see some improvement by the end of this year.

Finally updating!

Sheesh, it's been forever since I last posted. I got some copic markers and promarkers a few months ago and I love them so far. I'm still getting used to them and I'm all too aware that I really have no idea what I'm doing when I color haha. I just finished the picture below the other day and it kinda, sorta sucks really bad. I have no idea what the dude on the right is wearing or where the rest of his body went lulz. There's still so much I need to improve on ;_;

A little over a week ago I decided to start working through "The Natural Way to Draw" by Kimon Nicolaides. I'm still in the first section of the book. I just finished schedule 1C earlier today. I really hate doing the contour drawings. No matter what I can't seem to draw slow enough nor for as long as I'm required to. I was supposed to do an hour long contour drawing today, but I only drew for 45 minutes. Hopefully I will get into the groove of things as I get further into the book. I don't mind the gesture drawings though. I'm used to those. Here are the majority of the drawings from it:

Since I don't have regular access to a model (except my boyfriend for some of the drawings), I've been using the pixelovely gesture drawing tool for the gestures and whatever objects are laying around my house for the contour drawings. I apologize for the crappy picture quality. These are too big for my scanner so I had to use my phone to take them.

I really hope that by the time I finish the book (most likely a little longer than a year) I will I have made some noticeable improvement and maybe I will be able to get started on a webcomic =] I just have to make sure I keep up with the exercises in the book.
